Camp Greene Centennial Celebration in Charlotte July 15th and 16th

A two day event is being planned for Saturday and Sunday July 15th and 16th at the birthplace of the 4ID.

The festival will run from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on the grounds of the Dowd House. The festivities on the 15th will be focused on the history of the camp and the 3rd and 4th Infantry Divisions.

There will also be music and food vendors. We are planning tours of the house, reenactors dressed in period uniforms, screenings of the short documentary City of Canvas: The Story of Camp Greene.

Local historians and scholars will have educational presentations and exhibits about the camp and how the soldiers lived there.

At 6:00 pm, we will kick off a gala dinner to honor the 3rd and 4th ID's. The 3ID and 4ID are providing color guards and LTG Michael Tucker is scheduled to speak at the event.

Sunday's activities will be centered more on the Legacy of the camp and the future of the neighborhood that now bears its name.
